Children under 48” tall and those who are not good swimmers should wear a life vest that is Coast Guard-approved for increased protection. In addition, children should never be left unattended.

Summer time is quickly approaching, and with the season comes the hot summer sun. Sure, the sun can help you get a nice glow; however, it can also be dangerous for you and your children. Therefore, whether you are attending a waterpark in New York or you are playing with your kids at a local park, make sure you are utilizing the following sun protection tips.

Tip #1: Use at Least SPF 30 Sunblock

When you are preparing to go outdoors for an extended period of time, make sure you apply sunblock to your entire body—preferably before you put on your clothes to ensure that everything is covered. Once you are out in the sun for a while (especially if you are in and out of water), reapply the sunblock to prolong the protection. Finally, make sure you apply the sunscreen at least 20 minutes before sun exposure for maximum effectiveness.

Tip #2: Stay Hydrated

During the hot summer months, many people forget the importance of drinking water and beverages with electrolytes to remain hydrated. Make sure you drink plenty of liquids to help decrease the chances of dehydration.

Tip #3: Seek Shade

Even if you are outdoors most of the day, it is important that you take time to seek shade to protect yourself from the sun at several points throughout the day. UV rays are at their peak between 10:00am and 4:00pm; therefore, take scheduled shade breaks during these times. If you are at a New York waterpark, having your lunch in the shade can go a long way in helping reduce your prolonged sun exposure.

At the end of the day, summer is an incredible time of the year. Regardless of what you are doing this summer, make sure you are prepared to protect yourself and your family from the sun. Bring along SPF 30 sunscreen and apply it liberally, remain hydrated, and seek shade throughout the hot summer days.

• Small (lunch size) coolers are permitted into Zoom Flume. Large food coolers area prohibited, families with large coolers may use the picnic area outside Zoom Flume entrance. Also, no outside restaurant food (i.e. pizza) will be allowed.
• Follow instructions of Ride Attendants and Lifeguards at all times.
• Children should not be left unattended.
• For the safety of our guests, some attractions have height and weight limits and are strictly enforced.
• Swimwear or clothing that may be considered offensive in a family environment is not allowed (“G-Strings”, “thongs”, etc.).
• Swimwear with buttons, zippers, rivets, or snaps on the back will not be allowed.
• No denim cutoffs or shorts are allowed on rides.
• Do not leave personal property unattended, Zoom Flume is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
• Anyone who has experienced an intestinal or intestinal illness within the past 14 days should not participate in any water activities.
• Diaper Dependant Children must wear approved waterproof swim diapers in all pools and attractions.
• Inclement weather procedure — in case of nearby thunderstorm, all rides and pools will be cleared until the threat of lightning passes. The attractions will reopen when the storm has cleared. NO REFUNDS OR RAIN CHECKS due to inclement weather.
• Zoom Flume reserves the right to refuse service or dismiss any individual from the property.
